My girlfriend is trying to lose weight…tips or methods?
She is 5'2 and weighs 125. She seems fine to me, but eh…she wants to cut down on her weight. She started running 3-4 times a week for an hour. She's trying to thin out her legs a bit and lose some stomach fat I believe. Any other tips on how she can lose weight? She really doesn't want to go into a strict diet, so any tips on that?
ah yes, i forgot to say that she is 20
I was going to suggest running. It is by far and away, the BEST way to lose weight. Just buy a copy of any runners magazine and look at the pics of the long distance runners, Tight, toned, incredible shape, not underweight, but not an ounce of fat on their bodies either. The very best way to lose weight, keep your blood sugar levels in check, fight stress and lower cholesterol, all the while strengthening your heart and lungs. And the best part about running is, the ENDORPHINS! If you have never experienced a true "runners high" from the release of Endorphins in the brain, you are missing a real great natural "high".
Encourage her to keep going, she is doing the absolute best thing she could be. And she'll be able to eat ALL she wants to!

aside from running, just limit the calorie intakes per day (there is a set limit on how many calories per day based on height) <have one day to 'pig out' (break)>
or at least have her not eat if she isn't hungry (cut out unnecessary snacks) and dont eat (after) she is full

125 is actually the ideal weight for someone of her height. Instead of asking for advice on how she can lose weight you SHOULD be trying to get her some help! If all she wants is to tone up, she should cut out all junk food or have one treat per day. And she should also limit herself to 5 servings of carbohydrates per day and 2 servings of protein, but unlimited on dairy, fruit, and vegetables (not counting high fat dairy, pudding etc.) She should also look the servings up online because if she thinks she's getting 5 a day she may actually be getting 8 or 9 because of the way packaging is so messed up. Calories don't count so much as the food. Weight training may also help. It will add to her "weight" but build muscle and burn fat. And no, she can't get bulky, either.
I am a little worried about this situation. She may need counseling if she has body image problems or something like that. But if she just wants to be fit, that's great. It might help if she keeps a food diary too. And remind her to use a tape measure to keep her progress, ditch the scale. With these kinds of excercises her weight will definately go up unless she's starving herself but she will be losing bodyfat anyway.

I think that there is no healthier way to lose weight than to get a job, being constantly on the move.

That is not bad at all, but if she does want to loose some pounds, have her stop drinking soda, or just drink diet soda. Cut down on bread, potatoes and if she drinks beer, get the kind that says Lite. Sit ups help too.

Try low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and exercise. The foods are low caloried, and yet filling and healthy. Brisk walking is great for burning body fats.
It is my lifestyle now. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.
Details such as my experience, meals, snacks, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog

hi,
To know your ideal weight , check this equation -> [( your height (in cm) - 150)*3/4 + 50 ] the result is your ideal weight in kgs , so if you are overweight and you want to reach your ideal weight there's a site i know of , http://overweight-doc.co.nr/ , they offer a program to lose 9 lbs. every 11 days. This program proved to be very useful as it's one of the healthiest programs ever to lose weight. well go there and see for yourself. and i hope it helps.
