Yeah, you will lose weight before June! As you are at a high weight, you will initially lose the weight faster so will notice the benefits sooner.

After the first couple of weeks (when you usually lose quite a bit) try not to lose more than 2lbs, so that you can ensure the majority of loss is fat and not muscle.

It's really good that you want to start making healthy choices and I admire you for that. Remember it's easy to go back to old habbits, but if you are really motivated you will do it.

I lose half a stone last summer by walking every day (I had nothing else to do in the holidays) and eating really healthily. On average I lost 2 lbs a week.

If you find that you get hungry allot, eat lots of high-fibre stuff, like wholemeal crackers, such as rivita- this is the best diet tip which ever works for me.

Raw carrots are nice as something to chew and are really low in calories, plus they are filling.

Don't go too over the top. Have crisps (potato chips if you are American) but healthy options- these are just as nice in my opinion.

Don't cut down on too many calories. 500 at the very most. I also reccommend walking 20 mins every other day and when you get more fit, you can introduce jogging.

Encase you were wondering if you could lose the 60 lbs by June, this won't be possible and would be extremely unhealthy. You would lose enough to notice a difference though.

The first thing you'd probably notice (after a few days) is that your stomach is slightly flatter.

Also, when I lost weigh, I only noticed it in my stomach. I never saw it in my legs or anywhere else, but other people did. I think that's just becausey ou get used to how you look, so don't let that put you off.

Weights

Weight lifting is a great way to jumpstart your diet, and a fast way to see results. The reason this works is because the more muscle you have the more calories you burn. Another plus is that you are getting great muscle tone and definition at the same time. It may be wise for you to invest in a set of weights that ranges from 3 lbs. to 10 lbs. A set of dumbbells doesn’t usually cost a whole lot. When weight lifting you need to remember not to strain yourself, but also not to make it too easy, the point is to gain more muscle.

Intensity

As you continue your exercise routine you may get used to the intensity level and need to bump it up a little. When you can carry on a conversation during your exercise you may need to boost the intensity. Try making the movements deeper and bigger so your muscles get a better workout. When you start doing this it will make it harder to carry on a whole conversation, short sentences are better. Once again you need to make sure you don’t increase the intensity too much at one time.

Fun

Even though it is called a routine, you need to make sure you keep yourself interested and having fun. Competition

If you know of someone you work with that is also on a diet or trying to lose weight this may work in both of your favors. Challenge each other to see who can walk more throughout the day at work. A pedometer will help you keep track of your steps. Make an effort to walk more anytime you can, such as when you go to the restroom choose one that is further away, or walk to ask someone a question instead of calling or using e-mail. By challenging a coworker you will both increase your efforts and it will benefit both of you.

Food Journal

A food journal is a way for you to keep track of what you are taking in on a daily basis. You need to write down what you eat, when you eat it, and how much of it you ate. You may want to add more information to your journal based on your individual needs. The journal may help you see where you are making mistakes in your food choices. Once you find the problem it will be easier to fix.

Week and a half to lose weight….tips please?

I need to lose as much weight as possible in a week and half for a night out. I'm not starving myself or turning bulimic but I would like tips and tricks especially to speed up my metabolism. I'm not paying out for pills or any exercise machines either.

Day 1:

Eat the soup accompanied with watermelon and melon for your main food all day long. Consume a glass of unsweetened cranberry juice before you go to bed.

Day 2:

For dinner you can consume roasted potato or baked potato with butter (don't ever think to fry it)

Day 3:

Consume the soup, salad and fruit but no potato today.

Day 4:

Eat the soup accompanied with a glass of skimmed milk. Consume 8 pieces of banana to provide your body enough energy. Your body now need carbohydrate and protein also calcium to lessen body need for sugar.

Day 5

Eat your soup again. Today you should consume salad and salmon fish. Make sure the salmon fish don't exceed 10 ounces.

Day 6

You should consume maximum 10 ounces of meat along with your soup. You need the protein here.

Last Day

Consume 4 table spoons of rice with vegetables. Drink fresh watermelon or melon juice without sugar and eat your soup also today.

• Lose weight slowly. It is best to aim for losing 1/2 to 2 pounds a week. By improving eating and exercise habits, you will develop a healthier lifestyle. And, this will help you to control your weight over time. You will also lower your chances of getting heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. ‘Crash’ diets may take off pounds faster, but can cause you to gain back even more pounds than you lost after you stop the diet.

• Exercise. Get active for at least 30 minutes every day. You don’t have to train for a marathon to be active! Brisk walking, gardening, riding a bicycle, …

3 Important Surgical Weight Loss Options to Get Information About Before Getting a Surgery

There are three types of weight loss surgery that are commonly performed on overweight people. These surgeries either make the stomach volume smaller or cut down the digestion tract.

The most established weight loss surgery procedure performed these days is the Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass. This operation makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass a part of the small intestine. This procedure also minimizes the amount of food going into the stomach and the amount of food that is absorbed in the digestive system.

The stomach is either sewn closed or stapled at the upper half creating a smaller stomach on top. The intestines are then linked to the smaller stomach and food passes directly from one to another. In this way the stomach is separated into one small and one large section. The result of this is that less food will give the sensation of fullness and thus fewer calories will be consumed.

The food then passes through the shortened segment of the small intestine, allowing less food to be absorbed and this also results in fewer calories being absorbed by the body. The combination of getting full quicker and the lower absorption of calories lead to weight loss.

The Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass surgery has the benefits of a quick weight loss right after operation. The average weight loss for patients that go through a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery is 60 to 80% of their excess body. This happens in most instances 12 to 18 months after the surgery. But after five years, patients are in average only able to keep off 55-59% of their excess body weight.

This procedure has a higher success rate than other forms of weight loss surgery. On the other hand, the Gastric Bypass is often further invasive as it is often performed as an open incision, and the time to recover is long. But in some cases the operation could also be performed laparoscopically, which means that the operation is performed as a keyhole surgery.

Biliopancreatic diversion is the most radical of the weight loss surgeries. In this operation, about three-fourths of the stomach is entirely removed and the remainder of the stomach is linked to the ending section of the small intestines.

There are quite a lot of disadvantages to this method like having a higher mortality rate, life long bone density loss, the dumping syndrome and anemia. The benefits to this weight loss surgery are that it gives the patients the biggest initial weight loss and that it is possible to feed as normal people.

The newer Lap band surgery makes a smaller stomach by an adjustable band which is positioned around the top segment of the stomach. The band makes it possible to regulate the volume of food going into the stomach. The band could be changed until the preferred weight loss is achieved.

The lap band procedure is in most cases suggested because of the shorter recuperation and smaller risks. The Lap band is also favored because it is reversible and flexible. Often patients go through a more even time of weight loss and are able to keep the weight off longer than with other surgical methods. Lap band surgery patients reach an average weight loss of 36 to 60% of their excess body weight after 12 to 24 months.

I personal lost 60 pounds in 2005. Here are some tactics I used to lose the weight.

Eat every three hours. This will keep your blood sugar stable. Try to eat real food at least three times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between your food meals take a good meal replacement shake or bar.

Never eat a carbohydrate by itself. This is basically all sugar. When you eat a carbohydrate by itself there is a sudden increase in sugar in the body. This causes the body to release insulin. However, the body releases too much insulin because it thinks more sugar is coming. The insulin basically grabs the sugar/carbohydrate and stores it to fat for use at some other time. Since your body released too much insulin there is not enough sugar to support the brain function. That is why you feel tired or sluggish. So you’re fatter and dumber.

Watch the gums and mints. Many of these little gums and mints contain calories, sugars, and everything else that is not good for you. Read the labels, if it has sugar in it do not eat it. Time is relative and no two individuals will give the same measurement of time to achieve their goals. It depends on what you are accustomed to in your life.

Do I believe in detox? Well, most of it is plain simple commonsense - proper diet, judicious supplementation, adequate rest, exercise, stress-relieving techniques.

It is also important to understand that detoxification do not work in isolation. It requires careful understanding of the different substances that will help the body recuperate and fight back diseases. Have you ever washed greasy dishes without hot water or dish soap? To find out how many calories are from fat check the label. The label will list the total calories and then list how many calories are from fat. If there are 100 total calories, and there are 70 calories from fat, that’s 70%, too high.

Give yourself one reward day to eat and drink whatever you want. You worked hard all week, reward yourself.
